As most of you know my grandpa passed away a week ago Wednesday. I titled this blog Bitter Sweet and you may ask why because death has nothing sweet about it unless you know who holds your eternity. In fact it was awful to see someone slip away that has been in my life for the past 31 years. We were all there to say our goodbyes, hold his hand and usher him to heaven. When my grandpa took his last breath it was almost as if God was saying it's ok I'll take care of him now, don't worry he'll be with me and there is no better place to be. My grandpa was a great fisherman and loved to get out there every chance he got. I'm sure he's already picked out his favorite fishin' spot and he is catching the BIG ONES! :) I got the honor to sing at his funeral and sang " Another Soldier's Coming Home" I did ok until the very end and then lost it, which was my prayer, "Lord just get me through it and then I can cry". My grandpa was in the 507th paratrooper infantry and jumped in on D-Day, he was captured soon after that by the Germans and was a POW for 9 months. About 2 weeks after he came home from the war he and my grandma were married. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary this past November 13th, this is also Deacon's birthday. He was born on their 60th anniversary. He will be deeply missed and grandma is lost without him. Please remember her in your prayers when you think about it. So grandpa, I love you and miss you and until me meet again have fun in heaven! Lori~
